Our Local Story
The Origins of our Fellowship in
La Puente
The Apostolic Christian Church of the Nazarene in La Puente traces its roots to the early Apostolic Christian congregations established in the Los Angeles area during the first half of the twentieth century. After the construction of the Harbor Freeway displaced an earlier church, a younger group of believers eventually established a congregation in Pico Rivera, where the church continued to grow for several decades. By the 1980s, the congregation had outgrown the Pico Rivera property, and the building was sold in 1984. For nearly three years, members worshiped in a rented Jewish temple while plans for a permanent new church moved forward. The congregation ultimately relocated to La Puente, where the present church at 701 South Fourth Avenue was built and completed in May 1987, establishing La Puente as the congregation’s new home.
Our Volunteers
Committees and Leaders
Our church is guided by the foundational principle of lay ministry. This means we are a self-governing congregation, led and run entirely by dedicated volunteers who are members of our community. This model of shared responsibility empowers our members to directly shape the direction and spirit of our church.
Our Brotherhood
Connection to the ACCN
We are a congregation of the Apostolic Christian Church Nazarean, a denomination with churches across North America. While each local church governs its own affairs, we are bound together by a shared doctrine, a common heritage and a commitment to fellowship with one another under a single Elder council. This connection provides us with spiritual accountability and a broader sense of brotherhood.

Our Calling
Meaning in a Name
Our name, the Apostolic Christian Church, is a declaration of our core conviction and purpose. It embodies the sacred mission and high calling of Christ's Church as established in the New Testament. We are deeply committed to upholding and living out the pattern of faith, doctrine, and practice delivered by Jesus Christ and faithfully taught by His Apostles to the early believers. It is our earnest desire to be a living expression of that first-century church in the world today.
