Music Ministry
Worship in Harmony
At the Apostolic Christian Church, music is more than just a part of our service—it’s how we connect with God and each other. Our tradition is rooted in the natural beauty of the human voice, creating a peaceful and dignified atmosphere where everyone is welcome to lift their voice in praise.
The Sound of Our Worship
If you visit us on a Sunday, you’ll experience the rich and inviting sound of four-part harmony. We primarily sing with simple accompaniment of Piano or Organ or a cappella . It’s a heartfelt way to worship that has been part of our heritage for centuries.
The Hymns We Love
Our worship centers on two main collections of music:
Apostolic Christian Hymnal (Zion’s Harp): This is the heart of our tradition. These beautiful, classic hymns date back as far as the 1400s and connect us to a long history of faith.
Gospel Hymns: We also love the traditional gospel songs familiar to many Christians, which we often sing during evening services and fellowship times.

Join the Song
Whether you’re a lifelong singer or just enjoy listening, there are many ways to get involved in our musical community.
Weekly Song Service
Looking for a more casual time to sing? Our weekly song services are dedicated entirely to praise. It’s a relaxed hour where we take requests and enjoy a mix of favorites from the Zion’s Harp and traditional gospel books. (see our schedule)
Adult Choir (Ages 12 and up)
Our Adult Choir is open to everyone from high school students through adults. This group tackles more complex four-part arrangements and is a primary way we prepare for special services. It’s a great place for teens and adults to connect, grow in their musical skills, and praise God through the music we love.
Junior Choir (Ages 3–12)
Our Junior Choir is where our youngest members find their voices. We focus on teaching children the basics of music and the great hymns of our faith in a fun, supportive environment. It’s a wonderful place for kids to build friendships and grow in their relationship with God.
Church Orchestra
During events or at special request, our volunteer Church Orchestra provides a rich accompaniment to our hour of worship. This ensemble is a great group for instrumentalists of all ages—from young students just starting out to our most experienced players.
Music Beyond Our Walls
Music is a huge part of how we stay connected as a denomination. Throughout the year, we participate in:
Joint Choir Weekends: Regional events where singers from different churches gather to learn and perform together.
Area Sing: Also known as "Big Sing" where churches in the local California area gather in the late afternoon on a rotational basis to fellowship, enjoy dinner together, and sing. This typically happens on the first Sunday of the month, with the Events Calendar showing which church is hosting for the respective month.
Retreats & Camps: Whether it’s at a camp meeting or a regional retreat, music is always at the center of our fellowship.
Special Programs & Inspiration Hours: Throughout the year our congregations host "Inspiration Hours" and other programs. These services are a bit more informal and often feature Special Numbers—small groups, duets, or soloists sharing a musical testimony.
